KIC is honored to be hosting District Councilors for a two-day training in Entebbe. The training is part of the effort to fill the induction and skill gap on the role of district councilors. The training cover leadership skills, roles and responsibilities of councilors and budgeting among other things.
The session on leadership is followed by a session on the Local government system in Uganda; how it works and roles and responsibilities of councilors. They were also taken through the budgeting process and the critical stages in which they must always participate to influence allocations and appropriate resources to the different sectors.
The Local Government Act was a critical part of the conversation as councilors got to appreciate the need to own a copy and make it their reference point while running the affairs of the district.
